With the warm weather approaching, it is the perfect time of year to get out and hit the trails in whatever machine floats your boat. Off-roading has been growing in popularity through the years, and it’s easy to see why with so many incredible trails and spots to hit all around the country. From the west coast to the east coast and everywhere in between, there are so many places for you to embark upon. If you are looking to get out and hit the trails this summer, here are some of our favorite spots we recommend you visiting.
Home of the Rockies, the state of Colorado provides some of the most breathtaking spots in the country for you to tackled with your 4-wheel drive vehicle. The Argentine Pass is one of those incredible places that is sure to bring awe and wonder. The highest vehicle accessible pass in the state, the road is paved most of the way there, making it a great place to visit no matter what your driving skill level is.
If incredible views is what you’re looking for then Moab, Utah will provide you with one everywhere you look. Easily one of the most iconic spots in the country for off-roading destinations, this setting will provide you with everything you could want out of an off-roading experience. While there are many areas that are blocked off to off-road vehicles to accommodate bikers and hikers, there are still plenty of outstanding spots that your 4-wheel drive vehicle can take on.
For desert areas, the third largest national park in the country is a great destination as the Mojave National Preserve in southern California is a popular location for many off-roaders throughout the year. With quality accommodations at a main visitor center to keep you going on your outing, this is by far one of the more popular destinations for many off-roaders today.
If you live in the midwest, look no further than the Silver Lake Dunes in Michigan. While the southwest typically provides the best off-roading terrain, these dunes offer an outstanding alternative and can provide just as much fun for you in your 4-wheel drive vehicle. If you really want to put your skills to the ultimate test, than trying to crest Test Hill is the challenge for you. No matter what your driving level however, the Silver Lake Dunes are fun for any off-roader.
